Those adapters are highly unstable. I use the dual version which allow to plug 2 rj45 cables to use 2 devices. On the Linux side everything went fine, but with the Mac machine it was not working - constantly connecting / disconnecting the network. I had to swap the cable in the adapters then it suddenly worked. Also randomly the power line network would have troubles and requires frequent restart. troubles means network ping reaching fixed ~130ms pings, rendering everything slow and not smooth. Sometimes it works fine for 1 or 2days, then I would randomly annoy me for many days. Not to say than using it something like 10meters from the internet box the power line speed is 1/5 of what I would teorically be able to have, which make it really useless when having a fiber at home internet.

Hello PasNox, Thank you for your detailed feedback on the PLP1000. We’re sorry to hear you’ve experienced instability and inconsistent performance. Powerline adapters depend heavily on the electrical wiring quality and noise levels in the home. Issues such as fluctuating link rates, periodic high latency (~130 ms), or frequent reconnects typically indicate interference on the powerline circuit (large appliances, multi‑branch wiring, surge‑protected power strips, or long cable runs). These factors can also explain why performance drops significantly even at short physical distances. The behaviour you observed with the Mac disconnecting is often related to link‑negotiation timing or port‑pairing on the dual‑LAN model; swapping cables can temporarily re‑establish a stable handshake, but it shouldn’t be required. Frequent restarts also suggest that the adapters are encountering variable noise levels on the line. Our support team can help analyse your electrical layout, verify firmware, and check for wiring conditions that may be limiting throughput. In many cases, adjusting placement or isolating the adapters from noisy circuits greatly improves stability. We appreciate your feedback — it helps us continue improving the reliability of our powerline products. Best regards, NETGEAR Team
